Covered Screened Porch with Cedar Ceiling and Composite Decking

Covered Screened Porch with Cedar Ceiling and Composite Decking projects like this one are designed to create a refined, comfortable outdoor living space that blends structure, natural materials, and low-maintenance performance. This project focuses on enhancing everyday usability while maintaining a clean architectural connection to the home.

The result is a screened porch that functions as a true extension of the interior, offering protection from the elements, improved airflow, and a warm, inviting atmosphere suitable for year-round enjoyment.

Covered Screened Porch Layout and Structural Design

The layout of this covered screened porch was designed to feel open and intentional, allowing for comfortable furniture placement while maintaining clear sightlines to the surrounding landscape. The screened enclosure provides protection from insects without sacrificing natural light or ventilation, making the space usable in a wide range of weather conditions.

Black structural framing and railing elements were incorporated to create contrast and define the perimeter of the porch while keeping the design visually light and uncluttered.

Tongue and Groove Cedar Ceiling with Skylight

A key feature of this covered screened porch with cedar ceiling and composite decking is the tongue and groove cedar ceiling. The cedar ceiling introduces warmth, texture, and natural character overhead, elevating the overall feel of the space and providing a finished architectural look.

A skylight was incorporated into the ceiling design to increase natural light and enhance the sense of openness. This detail allows sunlight to filter into the porch while maintaining full coverage from the roof system.

The tongue and groove installation creates a seamless appearance and conceals framing elements, resulting in a clean, polished finish that complements both traditional and modern exterior styles.

Composite Decking Installation – Trex Beach Dune

The flooring for this project was completed using Trex composite decking in the Beach Dune color. This decking selection provides the appearance of natural wood while delivering the durability and low-maintenance performance expected from composite materials.

Trex Beach Dune decking offers a warm, neutral tone that pairs well with the cedar ceiling and black railing system. Composite decking eliminates concerns related to splintering, rot, and frequent refinishing, making it an ideal choice for screened porch applications where long-term performance is a priority.

Matching composite fascia was installed to create a clean, cohesive edge detail throughout the porch floor system.

Transcend Railing System and Black Accents

A Transcend railing system with black post sleeves was used to define the screened porch perimeter while maintaining open sightlines. The black railing provides subtle contrast against the lighter decking and ceiling tones, reinforcing the modern aesthetic of the space.

These railing components add both safety and durability while visually framing the porch without distracting from the surrounding views.

Modern Ceiling Fan and Comfort Features

To enhance comfort during warmer months, a black modern ceiling fan was installed beneath the cedar ceiling. The fan provides necessary airflow while complementing the dark framing and railing elements used throughout the porch.

This addition ensures the space remains comfortable and functional during peak summer temperatures, further extending its usability.
